UnitedHealth’s stock soars toward record price gain, provides 120-point boost to Dow’s price

“UNH, +6.74% soared 8.0% in morning trading, putting them on track for the best one-day percentage gain since April 2011, in the wake of the health care services company’s better-than-expected third-quarter earnings report” writes Reporter Editor for marketwatch.com. The stock’s price gain of $17.65, which would be the biggest one-day price gain since the company went public in 1984, is adding about 120 points to the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s DJIA, +0.89% price, which is up 249 points. The stock has now run up 11% since it closed at a 1 1/2-year low of $215.26 on Sept. 27, amid political and health policy uncertainty and concerns over competition.
