Industry, autos send emissions to 8-year high, negating help from cheap natural gas

The 2018 increase marks the second largest annual gain in more than two decades — surpassed only by 2010 when the economy emerged from the Great Recession.The emissions jump is based on preliminary data out Tuesday from Rhodium Group, a consultancy whose report precedes official EPA figures expected later in 2019.Rhodium used government data for the first three quarters of 2018 combined with more recent industry data.
