Qualcomm reports quarterly loss on $6 billion tax charge

“Qualcomm expects $4.8 billion to $5.6 billion in second-quarter revenue and adjusted earnings per share of 65 cents to 75 cents” writes Min Read for reuters.com. But its earnings and revenue forecasts for the ongoing March quarter were well below what analysts were expecting, sending Qualcomm shares slightly lower in after-hours trading on Wednesday. Excluding one-time items, Qualcomm earned 98 cents per share, topping analysts’ average estimate of 91 cents, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Revenue rose 1.2 percent to $6.07 billion and exceeded analysts’ estimates of $5.93 billion.The licensing business recorded a 28 percent fall in revenue to $1.30 billion, weighed down by the Apple dispute.
