Nicola Sturgeon’s Brexit deal ‘would lead to fracturing of UK trade’

“Nicola Sturgeon’s demand for a special Brexit deal so Scotland can stay in the EU single market would lead to the “fracturing” of free trade within the UK, a group appointed to advise Ruth Davidson has warned” writes Telegraph View for telegraph.co.uk. It warned of a “gradual divergence” as Scotland continued to adopt new EU regulations and laws to comply with the single market, while the rest of the UK did not.A report into the First Minister’s blueprint for a “differentiated deal” found that it was neither “deliverable” nor in Scotland’s “self-interest” as it would mean the creation of an internal UK border and customs controls.
