Crucial legal advice on Brexit should not be made public, Health Secretary says

“Crucial legal advice on Brexit and the Northern Irish border should not be made public, the Health Secretary has said” writes David Campbell Bannerman for telegraph.co.uk. Responding to calls for Theresa May to disclose the advice being drawn up by the Attorney General on the Irish backstop, Matt Hancock said this would not be “the normal approach”. “We’ve got a brilliant Attorney General, who sets out the legal position,” Mr Hancock told ITV News’ Peston. “He can answer questions in the Commons, but it’s not normal to publish the legal advice. That’s a decision in exceptional circumstances for the Prime Minister.” Pressure has been mounting on Mrs May to release the advice by Sir Geoffrey Cox both in full to her Cabinet, and to the public.
