Bank of England to keep animal fat in bank notes

“The Bank of England will continue to use polymer banknotes with products derived from animal fat, it has announced” writes Katie Morley for telegraph.co.uk. Last year the Bank consulted on the notes’ ingredients, suggesting that alternatives such as palm oil or coconut oil could be used instead. Polymer banknotes deliver significant benefits over paper, particularly when combined with state of the art security features which make the notes much harder to counterfeit.
