Amazon finally launches in Australia, but it’s a ‘patchy’ start

Amazon AMZN, -0.26% offers its own retail selections in Australia, selling and shipping items direct to customers, and a third-party marketplace that allows other businesses to sell through Amazon’s website.Citi analysts, in a note, described Amazon’s initial Australian product offering as “patchy.” “We expect Amazon will not be disruptive to Australian retailers this Christmas,” they added.Myer and Amazon carried the same dress from Australian fashion designer Sass & Bide on Tuesday, but Myer advertised 78 items from that company compared to Amazon’s eight, Reuters reported.
